The Asian World Journal of Political Science and International Relations (AWJPSIR) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of the scholarly record. In certain cases, articles may need to be retracted or withdrawn to correct the academic record and uphold ethical standards. Below are the circumstances and procedures under which a published article may be retracted or withdrawn.
1. Retraction of Published Articles
Purpose of Retraction
Retractions are issued to alert readers to significant issues that may compromise the reliability of the research or its findings. Retractions are published when a major error, ethical misconduct, or other issues severely impact the accuracy, validity, or integrity of an article.
Grounds for Retraction
Articles may be retracted for reasons including, but not limited to:
- Evidence of data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation
- Significant plagiarism or uncredited use of third-party material
- Duplicate publication or redundant publication of the same findings in multiple journals
- Unauthorized use of data, including breach of confidentiality
- Major errors in the methodology or results that invalidate the study’s conclusions
Retraction Procedure
The editor will initiate an investigation if there are concerns about an article’s validity or ethics. If the retraction is warranted:
- A retraction notice will be published, explaining the reasons and providing a link to the retracted article.
- The original article will be marked as “Retracted,” and the text will remain accessible but clearly labeled to inform readers of the retraction.
- The authors and their affiliated institutions will be informed of the retraction.
2. Withdrawal of Articles Prior to Publication
Purpose of Withdrawal
An article may be withdrawn from publication prior to its final release if critical issues arise during the review or production stages. Withdrawals are typically initiated at the request of the author or editorial board if ethical or technical issues are identified before online publication.
Grounds for Withdrawal
Reasons for withdrawal may include:
- Discovery of ethical misconduct or conflicts of interest
- Withdrawal request by authors due to unforeseen issues with data or analysis
- Legal or rights issues that prevent the article’s publication
Withdrawal Procedure
If an article is withdrawn, it will not be published online, and the record will indicate that the article was withdrawn, including the reasons, when applicable. This ensures transparency for all parties involved.
3. Post-Retraction Access and Citation of Retracted Articles
Access to Retracted Articles
Retracted articles remain accessible in the Asian World Journal of Political Science and International Relations (AWJPSIR) archive, clearly marked as retracted, to ensure transparency and maintain the completeness of the scholarly record.
Citations of Retracted Articles
Readers are advised to exercise caution when citing retracted articles. The journal encourages clear acknowledgment of retraction status when discussing findings from a retracted study.
4. Appeals and Author Notification
Authors have the right to appeal retraction or withdrawal decisions. Appeals should be submitted in writing, with supporting evidence, for review by the editorial board. The editorial board’s decision following an appeal is considered final
